What is pediatric cancer surgery?
Cancer occurs when the body's cells lose the ability to control how often they divide and grow, resulting in a mass, or tumor. The goal of surgery is to remove as much tumor as possible to prevent cells from spreading. Surgery plays a critical role in treating cancers, supporting nonsurgical treatments, like chemotherapy, radiation therapy or immunotherapy.
