Why choose Cook Children’s for pediatric surgery?
While discovering a lump can be concerning, it is reassuring to know that the vast majority of head and neck masses in children are benign (noncancerous). At Cook Children’s, our specialists provide your child with the precise diagnosis and compassionate care they deserve.
What are congenital head and neck masses?
Head and neck masses in children can range from enlarged lymph nodes due to an illness to congenital growths or cysts. Cysts are clusters of cells that form a sac containing fluid or other material. If your child has a mass, their doctor will evaluate it carefully. They may recommend surgery to prevent infection or when the mass impacts your child's ability to eat, drink or breathe normally.
